Senior Operations Engineer

 San Francisco, CA

We are seeking a talented and energetic Senior Operations Engineer to help build and sustain our Bay Area based service operations. The ideal candidate will minimally have 7 years experience (Sage Level IV), and must have held increasingly responsible roles in network environments with 500+ systems. Additionally, he/she will have a proven record of working within a fast-past, high-availability environment for an Internet based consumer service.


Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement new server and network infrastructure
  • Automation of common tasks, system provisioning and software deployments across multiple clusters
  • Knowledge of high availability strategies and technologies, site reliability engineering best practices
  • Develop tools to solve systems, operations, and engineering problems
  • Work with software engineering teams to help identify and remediate production issues
  • Pro-actively monitor systems and applications for high profile web properties
  • Execute systems maintenance within constraints of published SLAs
  • Share 24×7 on-call duties
  • Will need to accommodate overtime and evening work hours to collaborate with team members up to 10 time zones away

Qualifications:
  • Linux/*NIX administration kung-fu
  • Provisioning and package management
  • Solid knowledge of Layer 2 through Layer 7 network stack
  • Source control systems
  • Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years experience supporting a consumer Internet product
  • Knowledge of SQL databases, MySQL preferred
  • Master of Apache
  • Monitoring, log server processing and real time analysis toolsets
  • Advanced scripting skills (Perl, PHP, Python, shell, etc.)
  • Excellent oral/written communication and documentation skills
  • Four year degree or equivalent industry experience

Sr. Mobile Client Engineer

San Francisco, CA

The Senior Mobile Engineer will be responsible for writing stable, extensible, compact, carrier-grade code, will have terrific product intuition and an ability to work closely with product management, will be able to work in a nimble and fast-moving environment, and must be excited about collaborating with a global engineering team.

iSkoot’s Senior Mobile Engineer will work closely with product management to do rapid prototyping of new product concepts, and will work equally closely with our Israeli engineering team to help bring products to market.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience mobile software development
  • Strong technical background and deep knowledge of mobile client technologies.
  • Knowledge of BREW and iPhone a must, BlackBerry, Android, Symbian, WinMo, etc. all helpful
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Terrific product sense and UI skills
  • Experience with and enjoyment of the challenges of working in a multi-national corporation with offices in multiple time zones and geographies
  • Self-starter, organized and highly motivated
  • Project management skills, along with excellent communication skills

You will need to be familiar with building carrier-grade software. You should be motivated by the technical challenges, economic upside, and the opportunity and responsibility of being involved with something very big.
